The Big 3-0

Today I started my thirtieth week. I have rapidly come to the conclusion that there is no real need to make it all forty weeks; lung maturity is acheived by 35 weeks. Everything after that is just time for the baby to fatten up, making it harder to get out at the end. So my all Chinese food diet starts Dec. 18th. Anyone up for a labor inducing death-march hike that morning?

  1. Chinese-food diet? I don't get it.

  2. It's one of those "old-wive's tales" - Chinese food (and spicy foods) are supposed to bring about labor. There are many others, but as Courtney and I have discussed, we don't find them very enticing.

  3. Not you too! Why do all women want to deliver early? I was late wiith both of my kids. Two weeks with Harrison and 3 days with Emma. I was not bothered by this except that I had to be induced with Harrison. I don't wish that on anyone. When Harrison was seven days late I decided to go for a vigourous 2 mile walk. No big deal, unless your 9+ months pregnant. I was sore and tired and not in labor for 7 more days.
Some simple advice... SLEEP, sleep all the time, nap whenever you can, stay in bed til ten AM. Enjoy this precious commodity now while you can!
Go ahead and eat the spicy food. I'll join you in that.

  4. Why do women want to deliver early?? because we are big and fat and awkward, can't sleep well, have to pee all the time, and are sick of wearing the same five outfits day after day! At least those are my reasons. I've been pregnant 10 of the last 11 months and I am ready to move on to the next stage (at the safest convenient time for the baby, of course)!
